Jetwing Eco Holidays run bird watching and other wildlife tours to Malaysia. We would also be delighted to arrange a twin destination tour of both Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
Malaysia offers the opportunity to become acquainted with many Asian families of fauna and flora. It also has a number of Sundaic endemics.
For those considering a tour to Peninsular Malaysia, there are a few key sites we would recommend. The hill station of Fraser's Hill is a must for a range of birds from low elevation to the higher elevations of Malaysia. Bukit Larut (Maxwell hill) is also a superb site.
For lowland rainforest, the enormous Taman Negara National Park is unsurpassed.
Coastal sites such as Kuala Selangor National Park are also very good. During the northern winter. a large number of migrants are present. A specialty of these coastal sites is the Malaysian Plover, a resident of South-east Asia.
Infrastructure
Malaysia has good roads. This makes it a pleasure to get around compared to many Asian destinations where road travel is quite tiring. Many of the key sites for birders and wildlife enthusiasts have accommodation of a reasonable standard. It is however surprising that more wildlife traveler oriented, quality lodges are not common place.
Vehicles are good. English is widely understood. Telecommunications are excellent in cities.
