16th November - 17th November 2006 - Rainforest Tour

One of the moments that stand out from my tour of Sri Lanka was being in the Sinharaja Forest and being woken at dawn to see several Sri Lanka Bluemagpie feeding around the camp. My walk in Sinharajah was an enjoyable experience mainly because of Hetti and the other forest guide. Their skill and experience made it possible for them to identify the call of each forest bird thereby giving us a better chance of seeing them. It was a very rich experience. The accommodation at Martins Simple Lodge was ofcourse rustic and basic. The food understandably was local and good. Hetti was very good and worked hard to get me a good list of birds in a relatively short time.
