Anna Nekaris, an internationally respected primatologist, serves as Course Leader in Primate Conservation (M.Sc) and Senior Lecturer in Biological Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University, where she is also a key member of the Nocturnal Primate Research Group. With a career dedicated to the study and protection of primates, Anna is recognized for her groundbreaking research and her role in training the next generation of conservation professionals.
On her visit to Sri Lanka, Jetwing Eco Holidays had the privilege of assisting Anna and her students, ensuring that they were able to make the most of their time in the field. Their academic itinerary was carefully structured to expose students to the island’s rich diversity of primates and habitats, from observing toque macaques and purple-faced leaf monkeys in their forest strongholds to gaining first-hand experience in the conservation challenges faced by these species.
Jetwing Eco Holidays’ team of naturalists and logistical coordinators provided the expertise and support necessary for a seamless academic experience, from field site access and specialist guiding to maximizing time spent in observation and study. This partnership allowed Anna and her students to engage deeply with Sri Lanka’s primate populations and gather valuable insights for their research and academic pursuits.
