David & Hilary Cromack

David Cromack, representing the UK’s popular Bird Watching Magazine, and Hilary Cromack, from Bird Illustrated Magazine, undertook a 12-day media visit to Sri Lanka hosted by Jetwing Eco Holidays. As respected voices in birding and wildlife journalism, their journey provided a unique opportunity to showcase the island’s extraordinary avifauna and natural diversity to a wide international readership.

Their tour, carefully curated by Jetwing Eco Holidays, featured some of the island’s most iconic birding and wildlife destinations. At the tranquil Talangama Wetland, they experienced the close-up charm of urban birding, where species like purple herons, spot-billed pelicans, and migrant waders thrive on the edge of Colombo. In the lush UNESCO-listed Sinharaja Rainforest, they encountered dazzling endemics such as the Sri Lanka blue magpie and orange-billed babbler, alongside the unforgettable phenomenon of mixed-species bird flocks. Their journey continued to Wasgamuwa National Park, where birding delights merged with thrilling encounters with elephants, primates, and other wildlife, giving a well-rounded view of Sri Lanka’s natural heritage.

Throughout their visit, the Cromacks were accompanied by Jetwing Eco Holidays’ expert naturalists, whose field knowledge and guiding ensured every outing was rich in discovery and photographic opportunity. Seamless travel arrangements and thoughtfully planned itineraries allowed them to fully immerse themselves in Sri Lanka’s landscapes while gathering insights and material for their readerships.
